We don’t have to accept bureaucratic gridlock or delay. Sarasota’s best days are ahead of us if we have the courage to plan, the discipline to execute, and the spirit to dream big. I believe in this city, I believe in its people, and I believe we can build a Sarasota that works for everyone.

Meet Rob

Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Rob Rominiecki spent 15 years at the Landmark Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in Manhattan, serving in roles of increasing responsibility that culminated as Director of Security and Safety for the entire operation. His leadership included oversight of the protection and preservation of the priceless art collection; adherence to all land use, building, fire safety, OSHA, and ADA codes; and safety training of over 500 employees in 6 locations across New York City.

Rob switched gears and became a consultant for Museum Operations in order to serve as a stay-at-home parent and raise the two children he shares with his wife Jennifer. In 2015, the Rominiecki family relocated to Sarasota for Jennifer to take the helm of Marie Selby Botanical Gardens as President and CEO. Rob immediately was brought on board as the Pro-Bono Security/Museum Operations consultant. Rob’s first project for Selby Gardens was to oversee the renovation of the Payne Mansion’s North Gallery to be Masterwork-ready and enable the Gardens’ shift to the trademarked “Living Museum” operating model. This included oversight of new systems for climate control; resiliency; storm-preparedness; and security.  As Pro-Bono consultant, Rob also advised on the security and safety of the world’s first net positive energy botanical garden complex, which became a reality with the opening of Phase One of Selby Gardens’ Master Plan. Rob is continuing in this role for Phase Two, and advises on various aspects of security and safety for both campuses of Selby Gardens.

Rob is currently running for one of two At-Large seats on the Sarasota City Commission, where he is striving to advance arts and culture; affordable housing; safety; and resiliency for all.
